METHODOLOGIES FOR INNOVATION HABITATS

The methodologies for innovation habitats are associated especially to the implementation, operation, management and monitoring of these environments. The group introduces solutions to the processes of pre-incubation, incubation, innovation centers, living labs and makerspaces.

Implementation, operation and management processes of pre-incubation

Pre-incubators are an innovation habitat whose main goal is to support entrepreneurs in the creation stage of their business or project, that is, the ideation stage. The transformation process happens through a with a methodology that utilizes technical and marketing consultancy, mentorships, assistance, courses and institutional support, besides networking and approximation with financial and investment entities..

The VIA group holds methodologies for the processes of implementation , operation, management and monitoring of pre-incubators. The proposal , aligned with the CERNE methodology, indicates the different stages of the process of turning ideas into businesses. As a case, the Cocreation Lab can be referenced – a pre-incubator from the Creative District of Florianópolis. As of today, the Cocreation Lab is a project coordinated by the Organizational Genesis Orientation Lab of UFSC (LOGO) and is implemented in different regions of Santa Catarina.

Implementation, operation and management of incubation processes

Incubators are innovation habitats whose main goal is to support the validation of business models so products and services are inserted in the market. The methodology is based on the alignment to the CERNE reference model, idealized by ANPROTEC. From this starting point, The VIA methodology of incubation is organized to be developed in five stages: sensitization and prospection; selection; development of the enterprise; graduation and relationship with the graduates; and basic management. Each of these stages is structured together with the customer , in the way of processes. Besides, procedures and attachments are ranked for each processed, these contain document models and pieces of evidence of the execution process.

Implementation, management, operation and monitoring of innovation centers

The innovation center is a community that promotes innovative and entrepreneurial culture, trains people on businesses and connects innovation agents. The methodology encompasses the steps ranging from the definition of the implementation committee, law and juristicional norms creation, creation of the regions future vision, mapping of the ecosystem, elaboration of a business model and strategic planning of the center, occupation plan, publication of public notice , and connection networks of mentors, investors and service providers to the centers.

In partnership with the Economic Development Secretary (SDS) of Santa Catarina State, through FAPESC resourses, a model of management and operation of the , inicialmente, 13 public innovation centers of Santa Catarina was developed. O documento que baliza a atuação dos ambientes de inovação é chamado “Guia de implantação dos Centros de Inovação“. Based on that document it is possible to plan, implementar e operar os centros de inovação do governo do Estado.

Uma parceria conjunta com a Prefeitura Municipal de Florianópolis (PMF) and the Catarinense Technological Association (ACATE), a Rede de Inovação de Florianópolis foi criada. A Rede é uma iniciativa pioneira no país e envolve a operação de centros de inovação municipais e privados. O grupo VIA desenvolveu o modelo de credenciamento e monitoramento dos centros de inovação de forma a alcançar as funções definidas para ecossistemas de inovação. A Rede tem como objetivo estimular a cultura de inovação e o empreendedorismo, ativar o ecossistema de inovação e gerar e escalar negócios inovadores em Florianópolis. Thus, four innovation centers are already working in different regions of the city.

Implementation, management, operação e monitoramento de Centros de Eficiência Urbana

CT&I para cidades inteligentes – estudo para implementação de centros de tecnologias aplicadas para a eficiência urbana é um projeto idealizado pelo Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação (MCTI), com apoio do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq). Com o projeto foi definido o modelo de implantação e operação dos chamados Centros de Eficiência Urbana e sua rede – a RECEU. O projeto traz uma série de publicações sobre o tema que envolve o conhecimento acerca das cidades inteligentes e sua eficiência urbana, as políticas públicas associadas ao conceito das cidades inteligentes, o panorama brasileiro da legislação de cidades inteligentes, as práticas internacionais de cidades inteligentes, a Rede de Centros de Eficiência Urbana, a implantação e operação dos Centros de Eficiência Urbana e seus macroprocessos, as tecnologias para as cidades inteligentes, seus conceitos, fundamentos e aplicações, a avaliação da eficiência urbana das cidades inteligentes e as diretrizes de formação para a eficiência urbana de cidades inteligentes.

Implementation, management, operation and monitoring of living labs

The main goal of a living lab is to provide support and orientation to companies in the testing and validation of their products and services before launching their solutions in the market, allowing for improvements based on the experience of users. The methodology encompasses the planning of a Living Lab (search for stakeholders, minimal infrastructure, tools of user selection), description and operation model (complementary services, proposal analysis, user contracts) as the follow-up and qualification (planning , metrics and gamification) of living lab users.

It is an initiative from the Innovation Network of Florianópolis, in partnership with ACIF, ACATE, PMF and methodological support from VIA. Ten companies take part in the first project cycle for six trial months in a real environment - with a target audience - of products that meet that existing demands of the city, in order to validate the systems before they enter the market. O projeto se associa a sete passos de execução que consideram a realidade das conexões realizadas na cidade para “parcerizar” o uso da solução Waze Carpool, as expectativas dos gestores, as necessidades da região e a visão futura de tendências tecnológicas para smart cities, considerando a dimensão mobilidade.

Aplicação da metodologia desenvolvida para o Living Lab Agroinovação SC. O primeiro ciclo será operado junto à CEASA tendo como problema um dos desafios que surgiram no levantamento dos desafios da casa – resíduo orgânico.

Maker labs for prototyping

Maker environments are spaces for the physical and digital prototyping of ideas. In these spaces, enterpreneurs , creators, curious, small companies and students can create products and projects, by prototyping parts. The developed methodology encompasses a group of processes and practices regarding the development of a project inside maker environments. Thus, its purpose involves the creation of a makerspace and its utilization to execute the defined processes, raising the quality of projects and reducing the time needed for their development.

Located in the innovation park Sapiens Parque, VIA`s makerspace, VIAMaker, gathers the tools and technical support to turn a concept in reality, such as laser cutter, 3D printer, tools for making artifacts such as mugs and buttons and robotics. It is a versitile propotyping environment , which holds partnerships with catarinense companies like Atto Educacional, Due Laser and Minibot, that offers new possibilities to realize different projects.

VIA Observatory of Innovation Habitats

O VIA Observatory of Innovation Habitats é uma solução para analisar sistematicamente os desempenhos e resultados dos habitats de inovação de uma determinada região. That way, it is possible to establish a detailed overview of these important actors to the innovation ecosystem, allowing the foreseeing of needed actions to enhance this ecosystem.
The VIA group, acting on its own, already has this solution implemented for the state of Santa Catarina. As of now, the project is in the data collection stage, following that, indicators will be elaborated for each of the ten types of innovation habitats. As soon as these are elaborated, the VIA group will disclose them in two formats, in a summarized way in the project`s page , and by elaborating reference documents for full data exposition of each typology . Thus, it will be possible for actors of the catarinense ecosystem to understand the difficulties of the innovation habitats in regards to the state`s ecosystem. Then, it will be possible to initiate action to minimize, and even, tackle these difficulties .
